Does my dog need to have a license?
All dogs in the Town of Waterford must be licensed. New York State Agricultural Law states that dogs are to be licensed when they reach 4 months old. In order to obtain a dog license, you must show proof that the dog has had its rabies shots. The Town Clerk needs to see the veterinarian paperwork detailing the date of shot, the rabies tag number and the manufacturer of the shot. We issue 2-year licenses. A spayed or neutered dog fee for the two years is $20.00. An un-spayed or unneutered dog will cost $46.00 for the same two-year period.
